DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, July 11th\, 2026 (from 10 AM 4 PM) for this exciting off-site Plein Air Painting workshop led by Ogunquit Art Association artist-member Russel Whitten.\n\n\n\nLEARN MORE: https://barngallery.org/event/plein-air-painting-workshop-2026/\n\n \n\nSuggested donation $75\n\nLocated at Robert Laurent's farm studio in Cape Neddick (Deidre O'Flaherty will meet participants at Barn Gallery and give the directions)\, this class will provide training in the direct observation of form and its surrounding elements.\n\nJoin Russel for a full day 'en plein air' in this watercolor workshop at the historic estate and studio site of the late Robert Laurent.\n\nThe beautifully maintained and privately owned property will provide the inspiration and be the subject matter for the day's lesson.\n\nDirect observation and how we re-create natural elements with the use of watercolor. Understandings of color\, value\, perspective and technique will all be demonstrated and geared towards the individual's needs.\n\nA materials list will be sent at your request.\n\nPreregistration suggested. Call Barn Gallery: 207.646.8400.\n\n \n\n\nAbout The Workshop Instructor: Russel Whitten\n\n\n\nRussel Whitten studied art at Maine College of Art\, Heartwood College of Art and the Art Students League of New York. He is a member and exhibiting artist with the Ogunquit Arts Association/ Barn Gallery and The Wright Gallery in Cape Porpoise. His painting experience include scenic artistry in theater painting at the Ogunquit Playhouse\, Good Theater in Portland Maine and Prescott Park \, Portsmouth NH. Russel has been teaching watercolor painting for the last 20 years in Southern Maine at several public schools and art institutions including Rivertree Center for the Arts\, Sanctuary Arts and The University of New England.
