Gypsy Jazz returns to Ogunquit in a performance by Jason Anick and the Rhythm Future Quartet, marking  their third engagement with Ogunquit Performing Arts in recent years.
This performance climaxes a series of Southern Maine performances by Jason Anick and Matt DeChamplain as a duo.  For Ogunquit Performing Arts, Jason brings together the full Rhythm Future Quartet, and offers a different  show, featuring Gypsy Jazz pieces from their "Hot Club of France" styled repertoire and original compositions.
Led by violinist Jason Anick, the Quartet features  Max O'Rourke on guitar, Greg Loughman on bass, and guest pianist Matt DeChamplain.  These dynamic performers have received national acclaim for their lilting rhythms, virtuoso musicianship, and vibrant musical combinations.
A favorite of Ogunquit audiences, the acoustic jazz ensemble, Rhythm Future Quartet, has a straightforward agenda: to keep the spirit of Gypsy jazz alive and expanding in today’s musical universe. The virtuosic foursome, named for a Django Reinhardt tune, offers up a newly minted sound, influenced by the classic Hot Club of France, yet wholly contemporary.
The Hot Club de France is a natural segue for the Quartet.  A French organization of jazz fans dedicated to the promotion of "traditional" jazz, swing, and blues, it was founded in 1931 in Paris by jazz enthusiasts and amateurs for the sole purpose of helping to spread the music to the rest of the world.
The Quartet performs dynamic and lyrical arrangements of both Gypsy jazz standards and original compositions that draw upon diverse international rhythms and musical idioms. Rhythm Future is dedicated to expanding the boundaries of a vital musical genre.

Jason Anick, an award-winning composer and one of the youngest violin professors at the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston, has shared the stage with an array of artists including Grammy award winning guitarist John Jorgenson, Stevie Wonder, The Jim Kweskin Jug Band, and Tommy Emmanuel.

Pianist Matt DeChamplain is from Hartford, Connecticut. He obtained his degree from the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the Hartt School, and has performed at the Berks Jazz Festival, New York’s JVC Jazz Festival, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Django By The Sea Gypsy Jazz Festival and jazz clubs such as the Regatta Bar, The Side Door, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, Smalls and Yoshi’s.
?Max O’Rourke was the winner of the 2015 Saga Award from DjangoFest Northwest, and at 22 has already toured/recorded with many of the top American Gypsy Jazz musicians including John Jorgenson and Gonzalo Bergara. Greg Loughman is a top call bassist in Boston and has been heard with such luminaries as Sheila Jordan, Curtis Fuller and George Garzone.
Don't miss this one-time-only appearance of the Quartet in Southern Maine, performing their newest "Hot Club of France" show!   Wine and refreshments will be available.  Free parking for the performance is located behind the Dunaway Center.
