Music in the Meetinghouse with Lex and Joe Play the Ice House Five
Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Sponsored by Barnacle Billy’s in Ogunquit.
A concert of swing and jazz music will be performed by Lex and Joe with special guest Jon Ross to celebrate an era of Artists Balls and the gang that came to hear “The Ice House Five”,” play in a fisherman’s ice house in Ogunquit’s Perkins Cove in the 1950’s. Mike Horn, who played clarinet in the original group, has shared the set list of songs to make give the evening an authentic sound! Music in the Meetinghouse, a series of history based performances by musicians inspired by the musical history of our local towns, is made possible by the generosity of our sponsor Barnacle Billy’s.
Lex and Joe have lived, and played music in Ogunquit and up and down the East Coast for over thirty years. A shared interest in the fabled swing era of the 1930's and 40's has resulted in this enduring musical collaboration. Lex Romane plays guitar, electric bass, and sings most of the songs. Joe Riillo plays baritone, alto, soprano, and tenor saxophones, clarinet and flute, and sings backup vocals. They will be joined by friend and accomplished musician, Jon Ross, on acoustic bass and vocals.
An 1862 Meetinghouse is the headquarters of the Historical Society of Wells & Ogunquit.
