Frannie Peabody's Virtual Southern Maine Aids Walk/5K Run
Due to the COVID-19 crisis and guidelines for physical distancing, the AIDS Walk/5K Run originally scheduled for May 2nd, has been changed to Virtual Walk/5K Run that will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2020! Every May, through the generosity of our sponsors, volunteers, and the town of Ogunquit, The Southern Maine AIDS Walk/5K Run has also brought people together in support of one another. Many people choose to walk in memory of a loved one they have lost to AIDS, in honor of a friend still fighting, or as a way to educate their children about an important issue that affects our community. We remain grateful to all our supporters, and look forward to a time soon when we can be together again. Until then, although we are separated by distance this year, we remain connected by cause.
Here's everything you need to know!
Do I still need to register?
If you already registered for the AIDS Walk, before we went virtual, you are automatically registered for the Virtual Walk. If you have not already registered, click on the "Register Here" tab on the right, and choose virtual walker or a virtual runner.
Do I get a t-shirt?
Absolutely! Anyone who registers by June 30 will receive a free t-shirt mailed to the address they provide on their online registration.
What if I can't participate on August 15?
That's okay. You can walk/run virtually anytime between August 15 at 9am and August 16 at 3pm. We'll be sharing photos and videos on social media, and hope you can join us by sharing your virtual walk/run using #southernMaineAIDSwalk on your posts.
How will you know if I really participated?
Send us a screenshot of your virtual 5K walk/run on a walking/running app, by 3pm on August 16 and you'll be in the running for all kinds of cool prizes.
Can I still create or join a team?
Yes! You will have the option of creating or joining a team when you register. Whether your team chooses to walk virtually or in person will depend on COVID-19 restrictions on August 15.
Will there be prizes?
Oh yes! Be on the lookout for our announcements between now and August 15 on our Facebook page.
Can I donate to the event if I don't participate?
Yes. Your support is more critical now than ever. The Southern Maine AIDS Walk/5K Run is Frannie Peabody Center's largest annual fundraiser. Since 2009, this event has not only raised critical funding and awareness, but also brought people together in support of one another.
