The lineup includes Tommy Benedetti(drums), Timo Shanko(Sax/Bass), Johnny Trama(gtr), Van Martin(gtr) and Aaron Bellamy(bass). They have created their own unique sound that fuses the militant toughness of Sly and Robbie, and Scientist productions, with a balanced twin guitar attack, explosive Coltrane inspired sax, and a healthy dose of improvisation. The band plays a mix of classic Jamaican tunes and dub plates from the 70s and early 80s, mixed with their own compositions. Featuring current and former members of John Brown’s Body, Ghosts of Jupiter, Morph*ne and G Love and Special Sauce, DA brings decades of combined experience from clubs, theaters and festivals around the globe to the stage every night. Drummer Tommy Benedetti(JBB) formed the band in 2007 and was quickly joined by longtime musical brothers, Johnny Trama on guitar, and Timo Shanko, a duel threat, who is an equal force on bass and tenor sax. The band started out featuring a rotating cast of Boston heavyweights, including Jim Hobbs(Fully Celebrated), Dana Colley(Morph*ne) and Jeffrey Lockhart(Wally’s Funk Band) to name a few. This approach created a buzz in the Boston music scene and made each show a fresh experience. In the past couple of years, DA has solidified into a more consistent lineup with the addition of Van Martin and Aaron Bellamy. This has inspired the band to concentrate more on writing and recording original material, while still maintaining a busy performance schedule, further crafting their deadly, unique sound. DA maintains a busy schedule in New England with appearances at many festivals, clubs and pubs. They have 2 successful long running residencies, won a Boston Music Award in 2011 for Best International Act, and were recently named “One of the 10 Local Acts You Have to Hear Now” by the Improper Bostonian..The Dub Apocalypse live show is a soul shakin’ throwdown..and they invite you along for the journey. A?bout Green Lion Crew: From an early age, Green Lion Crew’s Zeke Stern and Dana Knowles became students of the sounds of Caribbean Culture. Drawing from a diverse musical blend of reggae, dancehall, electronic, and hip hop, they have become tastemakers and well respected producers in the modern reggae scene. Recognizing talent early on and not following hype has enabled them to work with artists like Collie Buddz, Kabaka Pyramid, Chronixx, Busy Signal, Sizzla, Capleton, Jesse Royal, Dre Island, and many more. In 2019, Green Lion started working with Ineffable Records. Their first release with the label “Be Still” was released to great critical acclaim and it reached to #6 on the Billboard Reggae Charts. Green Lion Crew’s listeners continue to rise on Spotify as their single “Keep Blazin’” with Roe Summerz led to a 91% increase in listeners in one month. Productions with Collie Buddz, Chronixx, Kabaka Pyramid, Beenie Man, and Akae Beka among others have proven that Green Lion Crew can bring an effective, fresh approach to the table while showing respect to the original sound. Green Lion produced the track “Lyrics Deity” on Kabaka Pyramid’s album “Kontraband” which was executive produced by Damian Marley and released on his label Ghetto Youths International. Green Lion’s original productions have been heard on ESPN, Vice TV and X-Games while earning support from tropical-pop tastemakers Walshy Fire of Major Lazer and David Rodigan from BBC 1xtra.
