Development Committe Position

Posted: 12/18/2024

Great Works Regional Land Trust seeks a Development Committee member (this could also lead to Board member position if so desired). Ultimately, we would love to have an individual join our Development Committee that has real-world professional development experience. Ideally, this person has experience in fundraising, volunteer coordination, hosting events, business sponsorships, cultivating new donors, and grant writing (having every skill is not mandatory). We seek someone with enthusiasm and experience, a positive outlook and the desire to enact a blend of tried and tested methods as well as try new ideas. Great Works Regional Land Trust is in the 6 towns of Ogunquit, Wells, Eliot, North Berwick, Berwick, South Berwick. We are a member-supported nonprofit that aids in conservation, creates public access, provides programming, and connection to the outdoors in perpetuity. Our motto is for everyone, forever.

We have an exciting 2025 season coming up as we prepare for our 40th Anniversary in 2026. There will be a blend of events and milestones to celebrate, including our beloved Spring Auction, Summer Garden Party, September Film Festival, and our new Fall Harvest Festival. We are also just coming off an incredibly successful Woods to Waters Campaign – completing our largest significant projects to date. A $3 million dollar effort to conserve 79 acres along the Salmon Falls River in South Berwick and 75 acres around the south peak of Bauneg Beg Mountain in North Berwick. Both these projects will have enhanced public access with parking and trails. These projects also have special significance to the Salmon Falls Watershed. Conserving the top and bottom of the watershed is critical for wildlife habitat, functional ecology, and watershed health. GWRLT recently officially opened the Old Boston Preserve just 5 minutes from downtown Ogunquit, where we are on track to open our first Universal Access trail, which will be of great value to the Ogunquit community.
Please join us as we focus our Strategic Planning & Development efforts to take GWRLT into the future while conserving the best of southern Maine for our future generations.
