Ceilidh
York County Community Action Corporation will hold its 3rd Annual Fall Ceilidh and Silent Auction at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport. A ceilidh – pronounced KAY-LEE, from the Gaelic – refers to a social event with Irish and Scottish folk music, singing, and traditional dancing. Our ceilidh brings together people of all ages for a night of dance, song, food, drink, and celebration. The traditional Irish dance music band, The Press Gang, based in Portland, provides the music, and a “dance caller” leads our guests through the various dance steps. The evening also includes a silent auction fundraiser. All proceeds from the event will benefit services specific to York County children (birth to age 18 – including WIC, Head Start/children’s services, and health services), along with programming that assists our senior population (health care, transportation and fuel assistance).
